The first ever International West Africa Cycling event dubbed "West Africa King of the Mountain Cycling Championship" is set to roll off on the hilly stretch of Kwahu in Eastern Region, on Saturday, Sept. 29th.
The event, is in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture, the Traditional leaders in Kwahu and the Ghana Cycling Federation.
In all, 60 cyclists would be battling in this fierce competition over a short, but heated climb distance of 48.57km. Countries participating in this exercise includes; Ghana, Burkina Faso,Togo, Côte D Ivoire, Benin and Nigeria.
Over 12 clubs in Ghana are in full contention of the very attractive prizes in cash and products from the sponsors.
The programme, would mark the worldwide celebration of the World Tourism Day.
Tourism Authority, engage the Kwahu township with a lot of side attractions including the paragliding experience dubbed "fun and fly".
Benin, Côte Divoire, Nigeria and Burkina Faso wheelers are already in the country to inflict a bitter road despair to the homesters.
The likes of Anthony Boakye of River Park BA, Maxwell Doku of Young stars, Gabriel Tettey of River Park Eastern, Solomon Tagoe of Gutten, Emmanuel Sackey of Velo Stars amongst others will get a very hostile road combat from especially Burkina Faso, Benin and Nigeria.
The West African King of the Mountain cycling event has come to stay within the route from Nkawkaw - Mpraeso - Obo and back to Mpreaso through Abetifi - Abene - Ewefwe and back to finishing at Abene in front of the Paramount chief's palace.
