The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to ensure that the Electoral Commission (EC) does not shortchange Ghanaians in the upcoming December elections.
Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC stated that the party is closely monitoring the EC’s actions.
He made these remarks during an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Tuesday.
He stated, “This 2024 election is not like the other ordinary elections they went through and got away with it in 2020. This one is a brain work. And we are all on it. And that is why we said eye on the price. And we make sure that every inch of what they are going to do we are going to measure it and make sure that Ghanaians are not shortchanged.”
“Because taxpayers cannot be used like that and then somebody will just sit down and with a stroke of pen decide that look these are just laptops and therefore, we shouldn’t be worried.”
In the meantime, the NDC has requested an independent body to conduct a thorough investigation into the EC following allegations of missing laptops from the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits.
