A Kenyan schoolboy has narrated how he walked for kilometres after being sent away from school for not paying fees.
In a video being shared on Twitter, Linus Kiptoo, who is a form two student at Chavakali Boys High School in western Kenya, says he did not have bus fare and so he was forced to walk from morning to evening to get to Kakamega town.
He said a night watchman helped him spend the night in the town.
The video caption says he walked for 35km (22 miles).
“I have been walking and resting. I hadn’t eaten anything since morning and the watchman here bought me mandazi [a Kenyan snack] and I’m grateful," he says in the video:

The student has called on well wishers to help him pay his school fees.
Tweeters have been outraged by the video, with some saying teachers should find out if learners have money before sending them home.
"It's unfair to send a student home for fees without confirming if they have fare," a tweeter wrote, while another asked why an adult would do this.
"I'm so tired of this cruelty in the name of education. Either we have a major national introspection on who we are and what we do to children, or we destroy the entire school system and start a new one," another Twitter user complained.
