The Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED), a non-partisan pressure group, has expressed their displeasure over the neglect of some New Patriotic Party (NPP) activists who sacrificed to secure victory for the Party in the 2016 General Election.
NYUPED claimed the NPP activists had been neglected in the appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCEs) positions.Addressing the media in Accra on Tuesday, Mr Prince Hardi Adams, the Executive Director of the NYUPED, said the then Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, assured them during the electioneering that, when the group support him to win the election, he would consult and make them his first choice for the MMCEs positions.
He, however, said the President’s nominees for the MMCEs in the three northern regions did not reflect the promise he made to them.Mr Adams commended the President for his ambition and commitment to establish the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), which would culminate in the creation of the Coastal Belt Development Authority, the Middle Belt Development Authority and the Northern Belt Development Authority that would fast-track development across the country.
