For Colored Girls : For Colored Girls is a star studded compelling drama of women portraying characters represented in a collection of twenty poems, revealing different issues that impact women of color in general. The movie is an adaptation of Ntozake Shange's 1974 choreopoem "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf". In lyrical, honest, angry and funny language Shange's colored girls evoked the feelings woven into the fabric of black female's lives. The movie integrates the vivid language of Shange's poems into a contemporary narrative that explores what it means to be a woman of color in this world.
