Mr Michael Appiedu-Manu, Municipal Operations Supervisor of Nsawam-Addoagyiri branch of Zoomlion Ghana, has appealed to Ghanaians to help maintain a clean environment.
He said a clean environment would prevent an outbreak of diseases and also save government of the funds it allocated to tackling sanitation problems in the country.
Mr Appiedu-Manu was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a clean-up exercise at the Nsawam Central Lorry Park.
He said the exercise was part of President John Dramani Mahama’s launch of sanitation campaign in the country.
Mr Appiedu-Manu said the clean-up exercise would be organized every weekend for three months.
He said the sanitation problem was very costly and that if Ghanaians joined hands in fighting it, funds channeled to that direction by government could be used for other developmental projects which would be of benefit to all.
Mr Appiedu-Manu advised all to keep their environment clean so as to prevent outbreak of communicable diseases in their various communities.
Mr Jacob Ladi, Eastern Regional Human Resource Officer of Zoomlion, commended the workers for their hardwork and advised them to make sure they wore gloves and nose masks when working.
