A genius comedy complemented by a spin-off drama
February 2009
have you ever in the history of television seen a series that was based on another while running back-to-back? DStv invited audiences to watch
history in the making as MOVING WALLPAPER and ECHO BEACH both start on February 6 on BBC Entertainment at 20:30 and 21:00 respectively.
Moving Wallpaper is set in a production office of the new soap Echo Beach. This is the place where life-changing decisions are made about
the characters in the show. Will the live? Will the die? The storyline revolves around a crazy producer, Jonathan Pope (Ben Miller), who is
trying to keep together a team of narcissistic actors and obsessed writers through the unexpected changes of the soap.
In MOVING WALLPAPER, decisions are made that have a direct impact on ECHO BEACH. The actors playing the characters in Echo Beach are referred
to by their real names in MOVING WALLPAPER and they make an occasional appearance in the latter.
MOVING WALLPAPER stars Ben Miller as Jonathan Pope, Lucy Liemann as Sam Phillips, Sarah Hadland as Gillian McGovern, Elizabeth Berrington as Mel
Debrou, James Lance as Tom Warren and Raquel Cassidy as Nancy Weeks.
ECHO BEACH, starting on February 6th at 21:00 CAT, follows the lives of Daniel, Susan and Mark, whose affairs of the heart are played out among
teenage anxiety, family loyalties and tested friendships. The events in the soap unfold against the backdrop of romantic Cornwall with its'rugged coastline, endless beaches and handsome surfers.
Former EastEnders cast member Martine McCutcheon plays Susan Penwarden,
a woman with a dubious past. The Full Monty star Hugo Speer plays Mark Penwarden who will stop at nothing to get Daniel Marrack (singer and
teen idol Jason Donovan) out of Polnarren. The younger members of the cast also feature some of the UK's new acting talent, which includes
former Hollyoaks star Marcus Patrick as Ian and Footballers' Wives' Susie Amy as Angela.
DStv viewers are invited to watch and see as characters and story-lines cross over between the two shows, while remaining entertained by the decisions made in one series having a ripple effect on the other.
