Reverend Joseph Henry Ofosuhene, Kwabre District Director of Education, has urged teachers and parents to design programmes at schools and at homes that would encourage children to take their education seriously.
Reverend Ofosuhene, who likened the mindsets of children to computers, said such minds reproduced whatever that enters them.
Speaking at the opening session of an USAID, Education Quality for All (EQUALL) annual stakeholders review meeting at Mampongteng in the Kwabre District on Tuesday, the District Director appealed to parents not to allow farming and trading to deny children the opportunity to learn.
He lauded the EQUALL initiative, which had worked in the district for the past three years to promote quality education and appealed to all the stakeholders to continue to support the programme.
Reverend Ofosuhene said efforts would be made to strengthen the non-performing School Management Committees and other education committees in the district to ensure effective teaching and learning.
Mr Gerald Ashong, EQUALL Programme Officer asked stakeholders to form partnerships with other non-governmental organizations to improve education in the district while they wait for assistance or support from the government.
He urged the participants to study the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results so that they would be able to address the academic problems facing the students.
Mr Michael Kwame Awuah, Community Participation Coordinator of Education in the district said efforts were being made by the directorate to raise funds to complement what EQUALL had given them to improve the level of education.
