The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch (EduWatch), Kofi Asare, has praised the Ghana Scholarship Authority for publishing its list of scholarship beneficiaries, describing the move as a significant step toward transparency and equity.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, February 2026, Mr. Asare said the decision reflects growing openness at the Authority under its Director-General, Alex Kwaku Asafo Agyei.
He noted that in the past, obtaining information on beneficiaries was often difficult and sometimes required Right to Information requests and legal action.
“For the first time, Scholarship Authority publishes beneficiary list on website? Eii, what was once gov’t secret requiring RTI & legal battles is now public? Eduwatch avows progress!” he wrote.
According to him, the development signals a stronger commitment to fairness in the administration of public scholarships, adding that transparency is key to strengthening accountability in the system.
The commendation comes as the Authority rolls out reforms aimed at improving merit-based selection, enhancing openness in its processes, and ensuring a more equitable distribution of scholarships nationwide.
