The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation - (GNPC Foundation) has granted scholarship to eleven students of Ho Technical University (HTU) as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The scholarships were presented to the beneficiaries, comprising ten undergraduates and one postgraduate student, at a brief ceremony held at the F.O. Kwami Council Chamber on Tuesday.
According to Ms. Abigail Boateng of the GNPC Foundation's Sustainability Department, the scholars were selected based on their academic merits and are expected to maintain good conduct and excellent academic performance to continue benefiting from the scholarship annually.
She said the Scholarship Scheme aims to develop and supply relevant skills for the rapid development of Ghana's fledgling petroleum industry.
The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation and other academic expenses.Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, expressed gratitude to the GNPC Foundation for coming to the aid of the students, and was hopeful they will justify their selection by putting in maximum effort to sustain their academic performance.
He also appealed for further support to advance the University's mandate.
Miss Abigail Kumah, speaking on behalf of fellow beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the GNPC Foundation for the support offered them and assured them and University Management to work hard to justify the investment in their education.
