The funds will be allocated under the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), which is dedicated to providing concessional loans for partner countries to build infrastructure towards the delivery of sustainable growth through the Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of Korea.
ProjectThe project, which entails rehabilitating and expanding existing water supply facility at Techiman, the capital of the Bono East Region, is targeted at delivering good quality water to residents.
The scope of work involves the construction of an intake weir with facilities such as water treatment plant, distribution reservoir and intermediate pumps, among others.
Work is expected to start immediately after national procedures such as Cabinet acceptance and parliamentary approval are completed.
Accessibility
When fully accomplished, the Techiman Water Supply Project will increase accessibility to potable water, reduce water-borne diseases and improve the general health status of the inhabitants.
It is expected also that economic activities like agro-based industries and tourism attractions in the area will also receive a boost.
