The equipment, worth GH¢350,000.00, included hospital beds, wheel chairs, vaccine carrier, vaccines refrigerators, new born resuscitation set, blood pressure apparatus, and medicine carts.

The items were presented to the health facility by the Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CCFC), an international child-centered non-governmental organisation, as part of its Promoting Maternal, Newborn, Infant and Child Sustainable Health Efforts (PROMISE) Project, which is funded by the Global Affairs Canada.

The Project seeks to improve health care delivery for especially women and children in rural communities in the Northern Region.

Mr George Baiden, Country Director of CCFC, who presented the items to the facility at Tinageria, said PROMISE had led to increased access to health care delivery for women and children as many of them now visited health facilities in their areas for health care.

Mr Baiden said under the PROMISE, six other health facilities in the district were also provided with essential medical equipment to help reduce the delay in health care delivery.

So far, a total of 30 health facilities in the Region have been supported with essential medical equipment as part of the CCFC's PROMISE project.

He appealed to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the health workers as well as community members to help maintain the equipment to ensure that they continued to serve them to help improve health care delivery in the District.

Madam Victoria Aboyella, Nanumba South District Director of GHS, who received the equipment on behalf of the Tinageria CHPS Compound, commended CCFC for its efforts at improving health care delivery in the area, saying "The support from CCFC will go a long way to reduce cost and risk in service delivery, since staff of the facility used to travel to Wulensi for vaccines".

Madam Aboyella appealed to the Nanumba South District Assembly to help provide electricity for the Tinageria community, especially the CHPS Compound to improve its operations.

Ubor Konja Moayulah, Chief of Tinageria expressed gratitude to CCFC for bringing hope to he people of the community appealing to government to help construct the road linking the community and Wulensi to improve transportation and business activities.

Mr Zakaria Tahiru, Deputy Coordinating Director of the Nanumba South District, who spoke on behalf of the District Chief Executive, commended CCFC for complementing government's efforts at improving the livelihood of women and children in the area.
