An expansion project currently under construction at the facility, which comprises a new main block and others, funded by the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Benito Owusu Bio, with his common fund, has paved way for the facility's elevation.

"The completion of the building in addition to an accident and emergency center, would position the facility to be upgraded to the status of a district hospital, which would improve its capacity to cater for its large clientele," he added.

 The facility which serves about 3,700 people, with the upgrading could handle more referral cases and take some of the pressure off the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, the only referral facility taking care of the Northern sector and some other sister countries.

Mr Manu was addressing the staff of the health center, after inspecting its facilities as part of his four-day working visit to the Ashanti Region, spoke about government's readiness to continue to invest in the health sector, to ensure quality healthcare delivery to the masses.

He has therefore charged the District and Regional Directors of Health Services to take steps to ensure the speedy completion of the project, pledging the support of his Ministry.

The Minister who was accompanied by a team of officials from the Ministry and the Regional Health Directorate interacted with the workers and patients to learn at first hand the challenges facing the facility.

He charged the workers to be compassionate when dealing with patients, since being kind to them formed part of the healing process.
