Statistics from the Ejisu Fire Station indicates that the Municipality recorded a surge in fire outbreaks in 2018.
Fire disasters rose from 38 in 2017 to 73 in 2018, according to Mr. Anthony Appia, Assistant District Fire Officer One (ADO 1).
He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Ejisu that out of the total figure, domestic fires were 30, the highest, during the year under review.
The District Fire Officer said there were only minor fatalities without any deaths and that his outfit was able to rescue four people unscathed from fire disasters during the period.
He however could not put any cost to property lost to the fires.
The District Fire Officer said 10 vehicular fire cases were also recorded, while 17 cases of bush fires occurred in the municipality.
Additionally, ADO 1 Appiah said four cases were attributable to electrical problems, whiles six were recorded in commercial property.
Reiterating an appeal to the public to adhere to fire safety measures, he reminded them to make sure that all electrical gadgets in their homes were switched off and the plugs removed from sockets, before they left the house.
He also appealed to the public to call fire officers on time so as to help to reduce the destruction of life and property during fire outbreaks.
ADO 1 Appiah praised the people in the Ejisu municipality for their continued cooperation and strong support to fire fighters in the area, especially during times of emergency.
