Inhabitants of Gomoa Akropong in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region have urged the Government to heed their call for the rehabilitation of the road linking the two towns.
The inhabitants say attention should also be accorded the road network between the community and Gomoa Okwahu, Brofo, Ngyiresi, Kyiren and Kyiren Nkwanta.
Nana Twumasi Owuyaa II Tufohene of Gomoa Sampa and member of the Gomoa Assin traditional council, made the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Gomoa Sampa.
According to Nana Owuyaa, inhabitants in the area, mostly farmers, play equally important role in the food and industrial raw materials production in the country and should also be assisted by the government by improving their road network to facilitate their activities.
He cited instances where residents of both communities periodically sacrifice their farming hours to clear of the sides of the link road through intensive communal labour.
Nana Owuyaa stressed the need for the ministry of Highways and feeder road to ensure Regional and District office responsible for the maintenance of the various road Network in their areas of operation were effectively and properly carried out as expected.
This, the Tufohene further stated, will go a long way to encourage farmers in the interior parts of country to produce more food and industrial raw materials to enhance national development.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bismark Nkoom, District Chief Executive for Gomoa West, has given full assurance to Chiefs and people in the District that the new patriotic party Government is tirelessly working out plans to improve the road Networks in the District within net six months to ensure easy flow of goods and services.
Mr. Nkoom gave the assurance when he addressed chiefs and people of a number of towns and villages in the Gomoa West area to round off this year`s “Ahobakese” festival.
