As part of efforts to end the infractions between Fulani herdsmen and crop farmers in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District, the assembly has constructed and transformed a fodder bank into a ranch at Wawase to house over 5,000 cattle.
Speaking at a Town Hall meeting held at Tease, Mr George Ofori, the District Chief Executive said when the whole area was developed into a fodder bank, it would be able to accommodate about 20,000 cattle to help reduce the frequent clashes between them.
He said the ranch would operate on modern technique such as the involvement of the veterinary, improved feeds for the cattle and the engagement of workers to ensure the safety of the ranch. He indicated, that the ranch at the moment was housing about 600 cattle.
Mr Ofori therefore called on the cattle owners to embrace the initiative and move their cattle to the ranch since it would provide the best of animal health services for their livestock. Some of the cattle owners who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) indicated that their animals were receiving the best of care and commended the government for the gesture.
