Eating well and eating healthy is what most people try to work towards. However, it is becoming more and more worrying buying foodstuff from our markets, not knowing where the foodstuff is coming from and how it is processed and handled, especially when it comes to our green and leafy vegetables.
Organic Trade & Investments, promoters of natural beauty and healthy lifestyles have, in the past few years, been working to bring organic healthy foodstuff to the doorstep of health-conscious buyers. They deal directly with farmers where they get their produce straight for the farms.
To get consumers closer to these farmers and vice versa, they organise an organic market fair on the last Saturday of the month at the Alliance Francaise, Ghana. Here, consumers are sure of getting farm fresh healthy products.
The added advantage is that fresh, farm produce can be delivered to you wherever you may be. That is the type of service you get from SowGreen and Orchfarms which are both in the Eastern Region. SowGreen does delivery on Wednesdays and sells fresh farm produce at the Dubois Centre on Saturdays. You could also get your farm produce delivered to you when you call Orchfarms.
Eno Yaa Farms were also on hand with their healthy lemon grass and hibiscus drinks laced with other healthy herbs.
Attarah Ghana Ltd also sells baobab powder, sesame seeds and groundnut. This NGO works with widows and orphans in the northern part of Ghana and through farming, they are able to cater for these less priveleged people as well as equip them with some skills.
One lovely discovery was when the baobab powder was mixed with the lemon grass drink as well as the hibiscus drink. The outcome was a very tasty smoothie.
Eat and drink healthy Ghana. Let’s take care of our health as we patronise our Ghanaian products.
We look forward to the next organic food fair on the last Saturday of every month.
