Brigadier General Stanley Alloh, Commander of the Northern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces on Thursday swapped Command with Brigadier General Francis Ofori, Commander of the Support Services Brigade Group.
At a short ceremony in Accra, Brig. Gen. Ofori handed over the Command’s Staff of Authority to the new Commander Brig. Gen. Alloh, which signifies the transfer of authority. As part of the colourful ceremony to hand-over, the outgoing Commander inspected a guard of honour of female parade supported by the Military band.
Speaking at the ceremony, Brig. Gen. Ofori thanked staff of the Group for the support, dedication and sense of discipline he enjoyed during his two-year stay in office. He said, “The greatest gift in life is hard work, which is worth celebrating, as I enjoyed during my two year reign as the Commander of the Group”.
According to him, leadership was not just about privilege but hard work and perseverance, and that, without these values one cannot achieve one’s goal. Brig. Gen. Ofori noted that a functional model for the Forces was needed to prevent conflicts and that the Group would continue to “press on” as their motto says, in spite of challenges to defend the country.
He congratulated the newly appointed Commander of the Group and wished him success in his endeavours, urging the staff to accord him the necessary support to enable him to discharge his duty effectively.
