Hundreds of people in Ho on Saturday participated in a health walk to mark this year’s Easter celebrations.
The two-hour event saw participants including traditional rulers and politicians walking through the principal streets of Ho amidst music, dance and exercises.
Mr Frank Asempa, Executive Director of No Tribe Foundation, a youth voluntary non-governmental and non-political organization, which organised the walk, told the Ghana News Agency that the event was to encourage the adoption of lifestyles that promoted sound health.
He said; “Health walk is better than good food and good drink,” and urged all, especially young people, to exercise regularly.
Mr Isaac Kodobissah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, said though health walk was inexpensive it helped prevent diseases such as diabetes, stroke and blood pressure.
He encouraged young people to join the many keep-fit clubs in the town to enjoy the benefits of regular exercises.
Captain George Nfodjoh (Rtd), Member of Parliament for Ho Central, who presented two trophies to the organization for a football gala on Easter Monday, expressed joy that the event attracted people from various tribes.
He called for oneness among the youth for accelerated socio-economic development.
Capt. Nfodjoh urged them to make exercising and the observance of personal and environmental hygiene a habit.
He advised the youth and the elderly to celebrate the Easter responsibly.
