Ghanaian employees have been urged to take their wellbeing seriously, work in a safe environment and improve themselves for their own good.
“Without a properly designed well being programme many employees will not to giving off their best and could contribute to high occupational hazards and accidents and retire prematurely due to injury and unprepared pension programmes”.
Mrs Elisabeth Kumalo, Vice President of the Region Africa of Sandvik Mining and Construction Ghana Limited said these at the launch of the wellness policy of the company at Tarkwa on Wednesday.
She said Sandvik operates in several African countries and everything must be done to promote the employees safety at all times and all organizations must do well to take their staff wellbeing seriously.
Mrs Kumalo said the focus of the policy is to develop a healthy, skilled and productive workforce and provide information on rights and responsibilities of employees and the company.
She explained that as part of the policy, workers of the company and their spouses were counseled on Legal, Health, Breast cancer screening, Voluntary Counselling and testing and financial opportunities available for employees and their families.
She urged all employees, to take their wellbeing seriously and take proactive steps to improve their lives and make them improve their productivity.
Mr. James Oosthuizen, Managing Director of Sandvik Ghana said an audit will be conducted to ascertain the effect and impact of the wellbeing programme.
He commended workers of the company for their dedication to duty and urged them to live up to expectation.
