Mr Alex Asamoah, New Juaben Municipal Chief
Executive, on Friday appealed to individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGO's), including churches to support government to promote
the welfare of children in deprived communities.
He said children in such communities needed good health, education, balanced diet and shelter to help them to grow into healthy and resourceful
adults.
Mr Asamoah said government would need the assistance from individuals and organisations, despite its interventions through the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, to solve problems militating against the
development of children.
He was speaking at the All Nations International Development Agency (ANIDA) day celebration and fifth graduation of the Women Development Centre (WDC), in Koforidua.
Mr Asamoah said even though disadvantaged children in the country "could not cry loud enough for their voices to be heard every where, they know that the future they talk about starts from today."
He observed that most of the children, in the early stages of their lives had to face insurmountable challenges due to the strains in society.
Mr Asamoah commended ANIDA for creating the platform to advocate the provision of food, shelter and education for disadvantaged and vulnerable women and children.
The founder of ANIDA, the Reverend Mrs Rose Donkor, called on individuals and organisations to help women and children to harness their
potentials.
She said gone were the days when women were considered inferior, weak object for sexual gratification, personal property and slaves of men.
She said the WDC was formed to help raise the living conditions of women and empower them to be able to effectively contribute to national
development.
Rev. Mrs Donkor advised the graduands to put into practice knowledge acquired at the Centre.
ANIDA is a charity organization, established in 1997 by Reverend Dr Samuel Donkor and his wife and Senior Pastors of the All Nations Full Gospel
Church.
It has launched projects in Africa and the Caribbean to improve the welfare of women and children.
