Pastor Peter Owusu Mensah of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, has urged the country's leaders to put the nation's development ahead of narrow and self-serving agenda.
He said as national leaders they should find common ground and co-operate to bring development and economic opportunities to their people.
Pastor Mensah, who is the Director for Chaplaincy and Family Ministries, West Central African Sub-Region of the SDA Church, said the nation had come a long way and it was time leaders acted more responsibly and threw away with negative behaviors and attitudes that could undermine political stability.
Pastor Mensah said this at the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Kyirapatre SDA Church in Kumasi on Sunday.
He spoke of the need for all to focus on strengthening national unity and peaceful co-existence.
"25 years of hope in Christ" was the theme for the celebration.
He expressed concern about the intemperate language used by social commentators during radio discussions and said such acts must stop.
He urged Ghanaians to be mindful of their pronouncements to prevent unnecessary confusion and chaos.
Pastor Mensah said it was important they became more accommodating and tolerant of views and opinions they might not necessarily share to help to preserve the peace and harmony of the country.
"This is the way to go if we are to make headway in national development", he added.
He encouraged Christians to work hard to help to turn society away from evil.
