A pastor has appealed to religious bodies to do more to support effective management and development of the mission schools.
The Rev Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, the Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, said religious bodies should work in close partnership with the government to bring quality education to all Ghanaian children.
He said they needed to be more visible, getting actively involved in the construction of teachers' accommodation, boarding facilities and classrooms.
The Rev Opuni-Frimpong was addressing the heads of Presbyterian basic schools under the Asante Presbytery in Kumasi.
The occasion coincided with the distribution of assorted of books on mathematics, English, Science and Geography to the schools.
The books were a donation from Mr Francis Bondah, a Presbyterian based in the US in response to an appeal by the Presbyterian Education Unit.
The Rev Opuni-Frimpong called for a review of the computerized placement system to give religious bodies, traditional rulers and old students associations some quota of the admissions into Senior High schools in which they have vested interest.
The Rev Anokye Nkansah, Ashanti Regional Manager of the Presbyterian Education Unit, said they were grateful for the books donation and urged the teachers to be committed to duty.
