The Wa West District is being provided with 12 school blocks Mr. Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, said at Wa on Wednesday.
The Community Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP) had also drilled 13 boreholes for 13 communities in the district to enable them to have access to portable water.
Mr Yieleh Chireh, the Member of Parliament for the Wa West, was briefing the Ghana News Agency after touring the constituency to inspect
projects and interact with his constituents.
He said the government had got $300 million grant from China to extend electricity to rural communities in the Upper West Upper, Upper East and the Northern regions.
The MP, who said he was impressed with what had been done so far in the areas of education and the provision of portable water for the district, said he used GH�60,000.00 from his share of the Common Fund to construct two
Kindergarten schools at Bierteng and Piiriteng.
He said a six-unit classroom block had been constructed at Ponyamateng to ease the congestion while Gadi Junior High School also got a three-unit classroom block.
Mr. Chireh said the construction of another three0-unit classroom block at Kikilapare had been completed and handed over.
In the area of road network in the district, the Minister said the people appealed for the rehabilitation of the Yieleyiri/ Buli, Naha/Dai-teng and Wechiau/Kpamfa roads among others to enhance economic activities.
The Minister applauded the efforts of the Wa West District Assembly to further enhance development in the district.
He said the district was doing well in the provision of portable water but needed to do more to improve on the sanitation situation in the
district.
