A sound engineer, Nana Kodua Nkrumah, was on Thursday put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly possessing two pistols.
Charged with possessing firearms or ammunition without authority, Nkrumah pleaded not guilty and the court presided over Mr Eric Kyei
Baffour remanded him into prison custody to re-appear on August 31.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Reindolf Agyemang said on August 29, 2009, at about 1530 hours the Greater Accra Regional Police Headquarters received information that a group of armed robbers at Achimota were planning to attack Ashfoam Factory located at Industrial
Area the following day.
A team of policemen led by Inspector Johnson Tulasi conducted an operation at Achimota and arrested Nkrumah in the company of two
others who escaped.
Prosecution said when Nkrumahs red bag was searched, the police found two pistols but he denied ownership.
Nkrumah rather mentioned one Adjei Kwao aka Wadada, a resident of Weija, as the owner of the two pistols.
Prosecution said the police arrested Kwao who admitted knowing Nkrumah but denied ownership of the weapons.
Police investigations revealed that Nkrumah and Kwao allegedly recruited a witness in the case with the intent of joining their gang of robbers who were preparing to attack Ashfoam Factory on August 30, 2009.
