Many schools in the Fanteakwa District have planted trees to act as windbreaks to prevent the destruction of property during rainstorms.
At Akim Osino, the Local Senior Technical School had planted more than 500 trees.
The Agricultural Science Master of the School, Mr. Kenneth Asante, told the GNA that lately, rain-storms were destroying lives and property in the area.
He said in order to check the disasters; the institute had planted such trees as teak, acacia, moringa and other commercial trees like oranges, pear and mango.
At the Akim Sekyere SDA Primary school, Mr. Kwasi Asumeng, a teacher, said trees such as teak and moringa had been planted.
At Asamama, palm-trees were being planted, Mr Issac Nyamekye, a teacher disclosed it to the GNA.
