Farmers at Akyem Asamama in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region, are facing serious challenges as the rains set in with no good bridges spanning overflowing rivers.
Rivers Abrasu and Anaso have over-flown their banks making it difficult for farmers to transport their foodstuffs to marketing centres.
The situation is bringing untold hardships to farmers as foodstuffs are locked up in the hinterlands sometimes for days, weeks and months.
Most of the farmers have become idle since they could not go their farms.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday at Akim Asamama, Mr Yaw Adu Sarkodie, an opinion leader, narrated the plight of the farmers and said the situation was making life extremely difficult for them.
He, therefore, appealed to authorities concern to address the situation as a matter of urgency to save the farmers from untold hardship.
