A circuit court in Sunyani has sentenced Alhaji Salia, a driver, to 12 months' imprisonment for siphoning five gallons of fuel from a company's vehicle at Buoku in Wenchi municipality.
Salia pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to steal and stealing.
Sani Alhassan and Prosper Kotia, both driver mates pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded into prison custody.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kingsley Baafi told the court that the accused person worked for J. A. Adom Company Limited.
He said on April 28 the convict and the accused were assigned with heavy duty trucks to convey a bulldozer from Badu, near Wenchi to Sunyani.
On reaching a junction at Buoku they stopped and siphoned six gallons of fuel from the vehicles.
A passer-by saw them and reported the matter on phone to the company's director.
He said they admitted the offence when they were confronted by their manager on their return and pleaded for forgiveness but were sent to the
police station.
