More than GH�150,000 had so far been won by MTN
subscribers who had participated in the company's television game show "Who Wants to Be Rich" since it started in August 2009.
The show sought to reward the participants and audience through education and entertainment.
Mr Brett Goschen, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana announced this during a courtesy call on him by winners of "Who Deserves to Be Rich" (special edition of "Who Wants to Be Rich") in Accra on Thursday.
He expressed gratitude to the winners for their contribution towards improvement in the lives of the vulnerable, and pledged the commitment of management of MTN Ghana to help shape the dreams of persons desired to contribute meaningfully to the society.
"At MTN, we connect people with passions. We believe there is a passionate 'Can Do' spirit in everyone and we are particularly impressed
that you did not allow any obstacle to hinder your effort in helping others," he added.
Mrs Diana Hopeson, President of Musicians Association of Ghana (MUSIGA) on behalf of the award winners commended management of MTN for its desire to support Ghanaians who wished to undertake beneficial projects for the society.
For the past four Sundays between May 9 and May 30, the game show, 'Who wants to be rich' was specially dubbed 'Who deserves to be rich' and
featured deserving Ghanaians supported by celebrities to earn money to support a project.
The special edition provided a unique opportunity for these deserving Ghanaians who had served their communities regardless of challenging circumstances to make some money to support their projects.
Deserving Ghanaians previously featured were Rose Hart, veteran Olympic Champion now on retirement, Ali Jahraah, a former goalkeeper for Ghana's Under-17 football team, the Black Starlets, who won the World Cup, and Enyonam Ansah (an armless woman who has been teaching for 20 years).
Zacues, a young man who runs an NGO for street children in Ashaiman, also appeared on the show, which is broadcast on Metro TV and GTV on Sunday nights.
Each of them had been supported by various category of celebrities including Koo Fori, Fred Amugi, Grace Nortey, Rama Brew, Bibie Brew, Diana
Hopeson, Joe Lartey, Kojo Dadson and recently Akosua Agyepong.
