Professor Ohene Adjei, Chief Executive of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), has appealed to professional groups at the facility to show strong commitment towards the promotion of industrial peace and harmony.
They should make sure that all disputes were resolved through negotiations without recourse to strikes.
This, he said, was necessary to help create the right atmosphere for the delivery of quality health care to patients.
Prof Ohene Adjei, who was speaking at the opening of the annual two-day performance review meeting of the hospital in Kumasi, pledged to continue to engage all the units and directorates to find lasting solution to operational challenges and allow the staff to effectively and smoothly carry out their duties.
He said even though 2012 presented some problems, the hospital was able to make tremendous success in the area of infrastructural development.
The period saw the completion and inauguration of a multi-million Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and CT Scan Centre, a modern eye centre, installation of jumbo water tanks to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the wards and generators to improve power supply.
Significant progress was also made in the construction works on the 950-bed maternity and children's block, started as far back as 1974.
Prof Ohene Adjei said greater emphasis would be put on quality care, especially, maternal and child health, staff training and welfare.
They would also intensify the resource mobilization drive, preventive maintenance activity, expand outreach services and strengthen collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and other partners.
He said, to improve operational efficiency and revenue generation, management was going to deploy a Hospital Administration and Management Software (HAMS) system to comprehensively computerize all aspects of the hospital's operations.
Professor Ohene Adjei called for all the directorates to accept the computerization project to enhance clinical care and boost the hospital's finances.
