The Akosombo Development Foundation (ADF), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has inaugurated a library with a reading clinic at Akosombo Combine, a suburb of the Akosombo Township.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the inaugural ceremony, the Secretary of ADF, Mrs Grace Maneson-Annancy, noted that due to poor reading habits of children in the neighbourhood , their academic performance is low and that tend to affect their level of education and opportunities for employment in the future.
She said the library project was aimed at helping children between the ages of six and 12 years to improve upon their reading habits and academic performance.
Mrs Maneson-Annancy said this could open opportunities for the children to progress to tertiary institutions and also get the opportunity to work.
She said a land had been allocated for the construction of a structure to house the library.
