Ms Erica M. Daniel, the Vice President of Sustainability, who led the Genser Team, said the all inclusive market was estimated to cost 950,000 Ghana Cedis and would have water supply, electricity and a creche.

She said her company had already made a donation of 1000 bags of cement as its initial contribution towards the reconstruction exercise.

"As a company deeply embedded in our partner communities, we have made it our top priority to ensure .... the recovery and reconstruction of Appiatse", she said.

In partnership with the American-Ghana Chamber of Mines and the Ghana Union Assurance, Ms Daniel pledged the successful completion of the model market to help residents regain their livelihoods.

"It is our belief that if given the right support, the community will re-emerge resilient and even more dynamic than before. We hope that this new market place will help to restore a sense of normalcy to the people of Appiatse".

She urged other entities and individuals to extend support towards the reconstruction exercise.

Mr Simon Madjie, the Executive Secretary of American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana, expressed delight to be in partnership with Genser Energy to contribute to the reconstruction agenda.

He encouraged more USA companies working in Ghana to follow their model in rebuilding Appiatse.

Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, the Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund Committee, in her welcome remarks, said the committee prioritised accountability and expressed delight over the passion of Genser Energy and partners to restore the livelihoods of residents.

She called for collaboration by the the Appiatse Reconstruction Implementation Team to ensure that the market was in sync with the specification of the reconstruction exercise.

Dr Sulemanu Koney, the CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines and member of the Appiatse Support Fund Committee, expressed appreciation to the company for the initiative adding that the market would be disability friendly to be beneficial to all.
