The National Halal Certification Committee (NHCC) has advised the general public to always check the Halal Certificate issued them to have two signatures and stamps of the two institutions on it.
It also cautioned and warned persons using the NHCC letterhead, logos and stamps to stop that criminal acts, a statement issued and signed by AlhajiAwaisu Bio Salisu, the National Executive Secretary of the Office of National Chief Imam of Ghana (ONCI) and AlhajiKhuzaima Mohammed Osman, the National Executive Secretary of the Tijjaniya Muslims Movement of Ghana (TMMG), copied the Ghanaian Times.
The National Halal Certification Committee (NHCC) was established in 2017 in a joint collaborative effort between the Office of the National Chief Imam of Ghana (ONCI) and the Tijjaniya Muslims Movement of Ghana (TMMG).
The NHCC conducts inspection of products and companies to ensure that its products meet the Islamic principles, esthetics and consumption.
The statement said the attention of the NHCC had been drawn to some unscrupulous people using the logos and official letterhead to issue Halal Certificates to companies and individuals in the name of the office of National Chief Imam, the TMMG and the NHCC.
According to the statement “the TMMG does not issue any different Halal Certificate from the one being issued by the office of the National Chief Imam of Ghana (ONCI) which comes under the letterhead of the NHCC.”
“The two institutions therefore issue one Halal Certificate with their signatories on it,” the statement added.
“The National Executive Secretary of the Office of National Chief Imam (ONCI), AlhajiAwaisu Bio Salisu, superintends over inspection and training under the NHCC.”
“The NHCC operates and uses only one account which is at GT Bank of Ghana and it does not accept cash payment anymore. All halal certificates and renewals fees must be paid at the GT Bank account of the NHCC,” the statement added.
