Narrating the incidents amidst compliment for the Assembly and Electrochem Ghana, a resident of Wokumagbe, Emmanuel Abayateye, whose properties were badly drenched said the magnitude of the water that literally ravaged the communities was unprecedented. According to him, the flood just gushed into the community and kept rising almost to the waist level, sweeping away anything in its track.  

“I dread recollecting the incident; we were simply defenseless. That was why it felt so relieving when the Assembly, led by the District Chief Executive, and Electrochem Ghana Limited brought in an excavator to quickly create outlets for the water to drain into the sea.”    

Another resident who identified himself as Daniel Obuade said, “the dam literally threw its content at us. I guess the community would have been submerged but for their swift intervention. The Chief executive, officers of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and management of Electrochem Ghana really deserve a favourable mention.”

The DCE, Hon. Sampson T. Kpankpah said his outfit will continue to work with responsible corporate entities like Electrochem Ghana to solve challenges faced by the communities even while more efforts are made to shore up the development of the district.
