Role Overview: The Truck Driver will ensure the safe, timely, and efficient collection and transportation of textile waste in designated locations in Accra, supporting The Or Foundation’s mission of Embracing Community Ecological Care to Catalyze a Justice-Led Circular Textiles Economy. The driver will operate an 8x6 heavy truck, ensuring the timely and responsible collection and offloading of waste in accordance with Accra Metropolitan guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a 4-axle truck to transport textile and other waste from collection points to designated storage or processing sites as approved by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
Ensure proper securing and handling of load to prevent spills or accidents during transit.
Drive other vehicles, such as passenger cars, as assigned.
Report accidents, incidents, or security issues immediately to the supervisor.
Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery activities, completing logbooks, trip reports, and delivery documents as required.
Maintain tidiness of trucks, cabs, and trailers, conducting regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure safe and hygienic working conditions.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing safe driving practices.
Inspect vehicles before and after trips, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to check for mechanical issues, safety hazards, and compliance with regulations
Adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards while driving, including speed limits, hours of service, and weight restrictions
Monitor vehicle performance and maintenance needs, reporting any mechanical problems or defects for repair and servicing.
Arrive on time for meetings and ensure all necessary supplies are ready and available ahead of the cleanup and haulage operations.
Serving as a positive and professional representative of The Or Foundation.
Maintain familiarity with The Or Foundation programming, policies, and best practices.
Other activities as reasonably assigned.
