Job Summary
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational efficiency, and financial performance of the Travel & Tour firm. The GM oversees all departments including ticketing, visa processing, customer service, sales, marketing, finance, and administration.
The role ensures business growth, regulatory compliance, service excellence, and strong stakeholder relationships within the travel and tourism industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company’s strategic plan and growth objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and market expansion strategies.
- Lead corporate travel, group tours, and holiday package development.
- Drive revenue growth and profitability.
- Represent the company at industry meetings, conferences, and networking events.
- Oversee daily operations of ticketing, visa processing, tour coordination, and customer service.
- Ensure efficient service delivery and adherence to company standards.
- Monitor booking systems and ensure compliance with airline regulations and global standards such as those set by the International Air Transport Association.
- Ensure compliance with local tourism and business regulations in Ghana.
- Establish operational policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Prepare and manage annual budgets.
- Monitor revenue, expenses, and profitability.
- Approve major expenditures and financial commitments.
- Ensure proper financial controls and reporting systems are in place.
- Work closely with the Accounts/Finance department on audits and tax compliance.
- Supervise marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
- Build strong relationships with airlines, hotels, embassies, and tour partners.
- Negotiate corporate travel contracts and partnership agreements.
