Job Title: Sales Officer / Sales Representative – Heavy Duty Construction Equipment

Reports To: Sales Supervisor / Sales Manager
Location: Ghana/West Africa
Job Purpose:
To actively promote and sell heavy-duty construction machinery and equipment to clients within the construction, mining, and infrastructure sectors. The Sales Officer will be responsible for identifying potential customers, generating new business, managing client relationships, and ensuring the achievement of assigned sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Business Development
- Identify and approach potential customers in the construction, mining, road construction, and related industries.
- Actively promote and sell heavy-duty machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, graders, cranes, loaders, and related equipment.
- Develop and maintain a consistent pipeline of prospects through field visits, networking, referrals, and market research.
- Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to clients.
2. Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, project managers, procurement officers, and decision-makers.
- Follow up on leads, inquiries, and quotations to close sales.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure client satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.
- Address client concerns and liaise with technical/service teams for timely solutions.
3. Target Achievement
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts in line with company policies.
- Monitor and report market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to management.
4. Sales Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and submit quotations, proposals, and sales contracts.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities in CRM or designated reporting tools.
- Provide regular updates and sales reports to the supervisor or sales manager.
5. Market Insight & Product Knowledge
- Stay informed about new equipment models, features, and benefits.
- Gain a strong understanding of technical specifications and operational advantages of machinery.
- Keep abreast of industry developments, upcoming projects, and market opportunities.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent selling, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical features in simple terms to customers.
- Strong prospecting and closing abilities.
- Good command of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools.
- Customer-focused with strong relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet sales targets.
