Job Summary:
This role involves supervising a team of field sales agents, managing daily sales activities,
executing strategic sales plans, and ensuring consistent achievement of revenue targets.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, an in-depth knowledge of FMCG sales processes,
and the ability to drive growth across both traditional retail and open markets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership and Supervision
• Lead, coach, and motivate the field sales team (van sales agents, open market sales executives,
and institutional sales reps).
• Monitor daily sales activities, ensure adherence to route plans, and drive target achievement.
• Conduct daily and weekly performance reviews and provide on-the-job training where necessary.
2. Sales Planning and Execution
• Develop and implement monthly and quarterly sales plans in line with company goals.
• Allocate sales targets to team members and ensure optimal route coverage and customer penetration.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to roll out promotional campaigns and pricing strategies.
3. Market Development and Customer Relationship Management
• Identify and pursue opportunities to expand into new markets and territories.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key distributors, retailers, wholesalers, and institutional buyers.
• Monitor customer satisfaction and resolve escalated complaints or issues promptly.
4. Sales Monitoring and Reporting
• Track sales data, analyze trends, and provide weekly and monthly performance reports to management.
• Monitor team members’ sales performance, cash remittance, stock movements, and customer coverage.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of field activities and market intelligence.
5. Inventory and Stock Management
• Ensure that sales team members are properly loaded with stock and that stock reconciliation is done daily.
• Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to manage stock distribution efficiently.
• Prevent stockouts, product expiries, and pilferage through effective planning and oversight.
6. Compliance and Company Policy Enforcement
• Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and ethical standards in all field operations.
• Conduct routine audits and field visits to ensure compliance with cash handling and customer service procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
• Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in sales, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity within the
FMCG sector.
• Experience in the detergent, soap, or household products industry is an added advantage.
• Strong leadership, team management, and field coaching skills.
• Proficiency in sales performance metrics and reporting tools.
• Sound knowledge of the local market and strong customer network.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
