OVERVIEW
A leading manufacturer and importer of quality processed foods and commodities is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales Manager – Van Sales. This role is critical in expanding our market presence, leading a mobile sales team, and driving revenue growth through direct distribution and route-to-market efficiency. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of relevant experience in FMCG sales, with a hands-on approach to van sales operations, team leadership, and client relationship management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Van Sales & Distribution Management
Oversee and manage daily van sales operations, ensuring territory coverage and route efficiency.
Supervise a team of van sales representatives and drivers, providing training, guidance, and performance tracking.
Ensure each van is properly stocked with the right product mix and sufficient inventory.
Maintain discipline in FIFO stock rotation and enforce proper merchandising standards.
Monitor route profitability, order fulfillment, stock returns, and vehicle utilization.
Sales & Business Development
Identify and develop new retail outlets and distribution points within assigned territories.
Drive revenue growth through regular route optimization and penetration of new markets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with retailers, wholesalers, and small traders.
Understand customer needs and market demands to tailor product offerings and promotions.
Conduct trade visits and field audits to ensure brand visibility, competitive pricing, and customer satisfaction.
Financial & Risk Management
Set and achieve van sales targets and collection goals for each sales route.
Monitor and ensure timely payments from customers, minimizing overdue accounts.
Conduct basic credit assessments and enforce sales and payment policies.
Coordinate with finance and logistics teams to ensure proper documentation and reconciliations.
Product & Market Knowledge
Stay informed about the company’s product range, pricing, and competitor activities.
Educate the sales team and customers on product benefits, usage, and packaging sizes.
Provide insights into customer preferences, market trends, and opportunities for innovation or new product introductions.
Team Collaboration & Reporting
Collaborate with the logistics, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure seamless delivery and issue resolution.
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, inventory movements, and customer feedback.
Generate and present regular sales reports to senior management, including performance KPIs, route efficiency, and market expansion opportunities.
Participate in internal trainings, sales reviews, and planning meetings.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
1–3 years of experience in FMCG van sales, route-to-market sales, or field distribution management.
Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets in a competitive retail environment.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with experience in customer relationship management.
Knowledge of local retail networks and route planning.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and sales tracking tools (e.g., CRM or route management systems).
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple sales routes and team members.
Willingness to travel extensively and work on the field.
Valid driver’s license preferred.
