Job Summary:

We're seeking experienced and skilled News Editors to oversee the content and production of our news programs, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and engaging storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Editing:

1. Review and edit news scripts, stories, and packages for accuracy, clarity, and grammar.

2. Ensure compliance with network standards, guidelines, and brand identity.

3. Verify facts, sources, and quotes.

4. Improve story structure, pacing, and narrative flow.

Production Oversight:

1. Coordinate with producers, reporters, and anchors to develop news content.

2. Assign stories, set deadlines, and manage workflows.

3. Oversee the gathering and editing of visual elements (video, graphics, etc.).

4. Ensure timely and efficient production of news programs.

Collaboration and Communication:

1. Work closely with news teams, producers, and reporters.

2. Communicate effectively with anchors, reporters, and other stakeholders.

3. Provide feedback and guidance on storytelling and reporting techniques.

4. Participate in editorial meetings and planning sessions.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Stay up-to-date with current events, trends, and industry developments.

2. Develop and maintain expertise in specific areas (e.g., politics, business).

3. Assist in training and mentoring junior staff members.

4. Adhere to network policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Requirements:

Essential:

1. 3+ years of news editing experience.

2. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

3. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

4. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.

5. Familiarity with news production software (e.g., Avid, Adobe Premiere).

Desirable:

1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.

2. Experience with online content management systems (CMS).

3. Knowledge of social media platforms and engagement strategies.

4. Certification in editing or journalism (e.g., ACE, CNE).
