Job Summary: The Chef at Asaase Kitchen is responsible for overseeing the culinary operations, ensuring the preparation of high-quality dishes, and maintaining kitchen hygiene standards. This role involves supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring a consistent and excellent dining experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation and Presentation:
- Supervise and participate in the preparation and presentation of all food items.
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of taste and presentation.
- Maintain consistency in food quality and portion sizes.
- Kitchen Management:
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and organization.
- Implement and maintain kitchen policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Staff Supervision and Training:
- Train, and manage kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen assistants.
- Schedule shifts and manage labour costs within budget.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development.
- Inventory and Cost Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
- Manage food costs and control waste, ensuring optimal use of ingredients.
- Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best quality products at the best prices.
- Sanitation and Safety:
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times.
- Implement and enforce sanitation and safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the Restaurant Manager to align kitchen operations with overall restaurant goals.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
- Address and resolve any kitchen-related issues promptly.
