Summary:
The Production Shift In-Charge oversees daily shift operations in a soap and detergents manufacturing facility,
ensuring production targets, quality standards, safety protocols, and compliance requirements are met.
This role supervises Line Supervisors, coordinates cross functional teams, and acts as the primary liaison between floor
operations and senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management
• Supervise Line Supervisors and production staff to achieve daily production goals.
• Monitor production metrics (efficiency, output, downtime) and address bottlenecks.
• Troubleshoot equipment/machinery issues and coordinate with maintenance for minimal disruption.
• Ensure adherence to production schedules and adjust workflows as needed.
2. Production Planning & Coordination
• Collaborate with the planning team to align shift activities with weekly/monthly targets.
• Verify raw material availability and coordinate with procurement/logistics.
• Ensure equipment readiness by liaising with maintenance prior to shift start.
3. Quality Control & Compliance
• Enforce strict compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality standards.
• Conduct in-process inspections and collaborate with QA/QC teams to resolve defects.
• Maintain documentation (batch records, equipment logs) for audits and traceability.
4. Safety & Environmental Compliance
• Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring PPE usage and hazard communication.
• Lead safety audits, incident investigations, and emergency drills.
• Ensure environmental regulations (waste disposal, chemical handling) are followed.
5. Reporting & Communication
• Prepare shift reports (production output, downtime, safety incidents).
• Communicate updates to the Head of Production and cross-functional teams.
• Escalate critical issues (machinery failure, safety risks) promptly.
6. Team Leadership & Development
• Train, mentor, and evaluate Line Supervisors and operators.
• Conduct performance reviews and implement corrective actions.
• Foster teamwork and resolve conflicts to maintain a positive work environment.
7. Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities for efficiency gains, waste reduction, and cost savings.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma initiatives (e.g., Kaizen, 5S).
• Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 5+ years in manufacturing (FMCG, chemicals, or soap/detergents preferred).
2+ years in a supervisory role
Technical Skills: Proficiency in production machinery (mixers, extruders, packaging lines).
Knowledge:
• GMP, ISO standards, and safety regulations.
• Root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5 Whys).
Key Competencies:
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication (verbal/written) and conflict resolution.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and compliance.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Physical: Standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 kg, noise exposure.
Environment: Manufacturing plant with exposure to chemicals (PPE required).
