JOB BRIEF

The Accounts Officer shall ensure oversight responsibilities over Accounts Assistants as well as ensuring day-to-day record keeping of the account department are managed in accordance with acceptable standards and laws. He / She will work under the Finance Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Keep and maintain up-to-date asset register for the business.


2. Keep and maintain a general ledger account containing;

1. Payables


2. Receivables


3. Taxes : WHT, VAT, CIT


4. Bank account


5. Cash account


6. Revenue


7. Projects


8. Inventories and stationery stock


9. Forex Exchange transactions


10.  Expenses


11. Staff salaries

1. Prepare bank reconciliation statements and submit it to Finance Manger by close of every week


2. Prepare expenditure reports and submit it to Finance Manger by the last working day of every week


3. Oversee the proper filing of company documents.


4. Responsible for all official accounting/finance errands.


5. Reconciles financial discrepancies by conducting control account at end of each month.


6. Take responsibility of payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.

Requirement

1. A good first degree in Accounting and or Finance / HND and above


2. The ability to work under strict time constraints


3. The ability to prioritize work


4. Excellent written and verbal communication skill


5. Advance knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting standards and national laws and regulations


6. Comfortable with computer handling. Should know how to handle accounts through computer systems.


7. Must be able to work with teams and lead during crisis.
