JOB SUMMARY
The Credit Officer will be responsible for managing the institution’s credit portfolio by assessing loan applications, monitoring repayment performance, and ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines. This is a senior-level role requiring strong experience in credit management, particularly within the microfinance sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct thorough credit appraisals for loan applicants, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and repayment capacity evaluation.
- Recommend loan approvals, rejections, or modifications in line with the institution’s credit policy.
- Verify customer background, business operations, and collateral offered for security.
- Monitor loan performance to maintain a healthy portfolio with minimal non-performing loans (NPLs).
- Implement strategies for effective loan recovery and delinquency control.
- Prepare and submit regular portfolio performance reports to management.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients to promote loyalty and repeat business.
- Provide guidance to clients on responsible borrowing and repayment practices.
- Ensure all credit operations comply with Bank of Ghana regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices.
- Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Support and guide junior credit officers in credit appraisal techniques and portfolio management.
- Contribute to staff training and capacity-building initiatives.
