Job Summary
The Control Room Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the process equipment used in the saponification (soap-making) line to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. The role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Operations and Control
- Start up and shut down saponification systems in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Operate and monitor process equipment including reactors, mixers, pumps, and valves using SCADA or PLC control systems.
- Verify the availability of raw materials (fats, oils, caustic soda, additives) and set accurate feed parameters for each batch or continuous run.
- Maintain critical process variables such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, and reaction time to achieve target product quality.
- Flush and prepare process lines to avoid cross-contamination between production runs.
- Record operational data, readings, and deviations during production.
2. Quality and Process Monitoring
- Collaborate with the Quality Control team to collect and analyze in-process samples.
- Adjust process parameters based on feedback to maintain product consistency and quality standards.
- Ensure all cleaning and hygiene protocols are followed according to plant checklists and procedures.
3. Safety and Maintenance Coordination
- Conduct regular checks to prevent leaks, pressure build-up, or equipment malfunction.
- Report maintenance issues promptly and assist during troubleshooting and repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with plant safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
- Participate actively in safety drills and continuous improvement programs.
4. Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Document daily operations, log readings, and prepare handover notes between shifts.
- Report process issues, improvement opportunities, and equipment anomalies to the Shift Supervisor or Production Manager.
- Support process optimization initiatives to improve production yield, energy efficiency, and equipment reliability.
