Job Description – Mechanical Technician
Position Overview
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and systems to ensure smooth plant operations. This role requires hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and systems.
Diagnose mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures.
Repair and replace defective parts such as bearings, gears, shafts, belts, and pumps.
Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance are done in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and service reports.
Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to improve equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
Assist in inventory management of tools and spare parts.
Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to restore operations.
Continuously update technical knowledge and comply with company training programs.
Qualifications and Requirements
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering/Technology or related field.
Proven experience (2–5 years) as a Mechanical Technician in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and rotating equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
Hands-on experience with maintenance tools, welding, and fabrication is an advantage.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of workplace safety standards and practices.
Willingness to work in shifts and respond to urgent maintenance needs.
