At least 2 or more years working experience as a reporter, broadcast journalist/anchor with a reputable organization. Communicates effectively in both written and spoken English. Proficient in the use of Microsoft office and Windows-based programmes.

Job Purpose

The Broadcast Journalist (business) is responsible for generating ideas, researching on ideas, writing, capturing visual content and editing stories, features and specials (business, finance, economics etc) which are credible and professional for our multiple platforms (radio, television and digital media).

 

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Receives assignments, evaluates news leads and news tips to develop story ideas


2. Gathers and verifies factual information regarding stories through interviews, observation and research


3. Build an extensive network


4. Organise material, determines slant or emphasis and writes stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards


5. Edits or assists editing of videos for all multimedia platforms


6. Report live from location as required & handle breaking news assignments


7. Anchor bulletins from location field and on set when necessary and support production


8. Passionately follow breaking and developing stories that will lead to tangible results


9. Follow and cover high profile leads, special events, etc


10. Coach & mentor other journalists
