Job Summary
The Assistant Manager of Supply Chain Management supports the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the company’s overall supply chain strategy. This role ensures efficient and effective operations across purchasing, warehousing, distribution, and inventory management to meet business objectives.
Job Responsibility
- Assist in planning and coordinating import activities.
- Ensure the use of proper shipping lines to manage freight cost without affecting the sailing time
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of import documentation
- Monitor shipment schedules and track shipments to ensure timely delivery
- Ensures no demurrage or incremental cost is incurred due to internal inefficiencies
- Able to control & Resolve FOB & Freight Value Upliftment Cases with Custom ,Compliance and CEPS
- Familiar with the process of getting Custom Duty Concession on semi-finished goods
- Ensure timely refund for any duty paid on capex and exports
- Able to mitigate potential risk and optimize the use of clearing agents
- Ensure compliance with Ghana guidelines for importation of goods.
- Liaise with Customs, Custom brokers and regulatory agencies to resolve any issues
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, carriers and logistics partners.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings and service improvements
- Manage the inbound loads and coordinate with requesting units for accurate arrival times
- Managing dispatching duties
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Utilize data and analytics to monitor import performance and identify areas for improvement
- Work closely with the Head of SCM and other departments (e.g., procurement, finance, and logistics) to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members
- Prepare and present reports on Inbound and logistics activities, costs, and performance metrics.
- Analyze market trends and provide recommendations to biz.
- Conversant with yearend report preparation on existing CFR terms in the group with reasoning
Job Requirement
Strong understanding of guidelines for importation, regulations and customs procedures in Ghana
Proficiency in import documentation and processes.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience with import management software a is plus
