Qualifications
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or other relevant field such as occupational health and safety management.
• Minimum 5 years of practical experience in managing ESHS risks and impacts on a corporate level with a proven track record of successful ESMS implementation.
• Current knowledge of the country’s regulatory requirements and preferably the applicable requirements of IFC E&S Performance Standards.
• Understanding the company’s sectoral challenges, ESHS impacts, and risks (including of its clients and surrounding communities).
• Strong understanding of emergency preparedness and response aspects related to the company’s operations, in an integrated way to include both workers and surrounding communities. Experience in occupational health and safety is an asset.
• Excellent communicator, problem solver, project manager, and a pragmatic professional.
• Strong supervisory, verbal, and written communication skills.

Description
- Implementing all ESMS-related policies, standards, and procedures developed on the corporate level and incorporating ESHS considerations into the company’s daily operations;
- Identifying ESHS hazards, risks, and impacts as possible associated with the company’s activities (for Agrotec this would include for example: waste management, incorporating initiatives for empty containers; efficient use of energy and water; occupational health and safety; emergency preparedness and response; relations with local communities; transportation safety; etc.);
- Ensuring compliance with all legally prescribed ESHS obligations and regulatory requirements as related to the company’s operations (including, verifying E&S licenses and permits from clients and for the company’s operations, and implementing IFC’s requirements);
- Identifying risk management strategies focusing on the prevention of impacts favoring strategies that eliminate the cause of the hazard/impact at its source; or when impact avoidance is not feasible, incorporating engineering and management controls (e.g. pollution controls).
- Carrying out E&S audits- internal and external.
- Training staff on ESHS matters, including but not limited to environmental controls, occupational health and safety, and emergency controls.
- Designing and applying a monitoring and evaluation system and reviewing data as a means to verify and, where necessary, improve the ESHS system.
- Involving additional EHS professionals, where warranted, who have the experience, competence, and training necessary to assess and manage EHS impacts and risks, and carry out specialized environmental management functions.
- Preparing workers and nearby communities to respond to accidents, to effectively and safely control such events, and restoring workplace and community environments to safe and healthy conditions (for instance, carrying out mandatory fire drills and related activities);
- Improving ESHS performance through a combination of ongoing monitoring of facilities performance and effective accountability.
