Position Summary
HRLeverage is seeking for a dynamic and tech-savvy Electrical Estimator to join our Commercial Department in Accra. The Electrical Estimator will play a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects across West Africa. This position requires deep knowledge of electrical systems, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with cutting-edge estimation software. The successful candidate will contribute directly to our bid success rate, leverage digital tools for efficiency, and foster client confidence through professional presentations and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Estimation & Technical Analysis
- Prepare accurate and competitive electrical cost estimates using advanced software (Procore), BIM models, and digital takeoff tools for projects ranging from $500K to $10M+ USD.
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities with precision, ensuring compliance and feasibility.
- Leverage 3D visualization tools, BIM models, and automated takeoff platforms to improve accuracy and reduce preparation time.
2. Market Intelligence & Value Engineering
- Research and maintain updated databases of material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing using digital procurement platforms.
- Propose cost-saving solutions and alternative technical approaches based on sustainable design practices and the latest electrical innovations.
- Monitor West African market conditions, suppliers, and pricing dynamics.
3. Bid Preparation & Client Engagement
- Collaborate with technical teams to prepare detailed bid proposals that balance commercial competitiveness with technical feasibility.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, presentations, and site visits, representing the company with professionalism and confidence.
- Engage with clients to clarify requirements and provide tailored estimation solutions.
4. Technology Integration & Digital Transformation
- Support implementation of Procore and other industry-leading platforms.
- Continuously enhance estimation processes through automation, AI, and collaboration tools.
- Drive innovation in the department by integrating smart building technologies, IoT systems, and energy-efficient solutions.
5. Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with sales, operations, and engineering teams to ensure accurate, timely, and competitive submissions.
- Provide clear reports on estimation performance, market insights, and process improvement opportunities.
- Support cross-border coordination with the Beirut headquarters and other regional offices.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in electrical estimation with MEP contractors.
- Track record of successfully estimating projects valued at $500K+ USD.
- Experience with international projects and multi-currency estimating (preferred).
Technical Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in estimation software (Procore, Trimble, Accubid, ConEst, etc.).
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks for takeoffs and clash detection.
- Strong MS Excel and database management skills.
- Familiarity with NEC, IEC, and British Standards.
- Knowledge of sustainable design, solar integration, and smart building technologies.
